Welcome Back! - Friday News Jan. 5

Happy Friday, Welcome Back & Happy New Year!

I hope all of you had a wonderful break --- full of relaxation and quality family time! It was a joy to hear all the fun and exciting stories the students told about their breaks. I traveled back to my home state of Michigan in the US. I had a great time seeing my friends and family, enjoying all the snow :)

This short week we took time getting back in the swing of things...
In Math we started ch. 8: Applying Multiplication & Division. I encourage you to work with your child on memorizing their multiplication (and division facts) -- XtraMath is a great helpful tool for an online resource, and we use it every day in class. Extra help at home -- using flashcards, or other online math games -- will benefit your child immensely.

In Reading we talked about how, as good readers, we should read with EXPRESSION! And not sound like monotone robots. We practiced this by reading aloud to each other. Here are a few pictures:

A look at next week....

Spelling Words: Lesson 15 (diphthongs: oi, oo, oy)

Bible Memory Verse -
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid or terrified because the Lord your God goes with you.
He will never leave you. He will never desert you.
